DVI-D cable, AA1216, AA1632, AA1833, AA2257 Frequently Asked Questions

Can a DVI-D cable be attached to a DVI-I socket on a graphics card, or is an adapter required?
A DVI-D will fit and work with a DVI-I output.

Can a single link cable be attached to a dual link socket, or odes this require an adapter?
A single link cable will work when connected to a dual link socket.

We have an Infocus projector with a female connector DVI. Our projection source has a standard female VGA connection 10 metres away. Do you have a product to connect the two please?
Please look at the female DVI connector on your projector. You should see three rows of holes and a rectangular hole.

Does your connector have the four holes highlighted in red?

YES, We suggest you use a DVI to VGA adapter AA1655 and a suitable VGA cable.

NO, You can not connect this to SVGA or VGA output.

Bought one of these cables from you, but found on connecting it to my projector that the input on the projector, infocus lp120, is a bit longer, i.e. more pins, than the plug. Any ideas?
Yes, your project requires a cable to the new digital specification "M1-DA, P&D". This new specification has been design specifically to overcome a problem with DVI and projectors. The DVI standard specifies a maximum cable length of 5M. Our DVI cables exceed this standard which is we are able to supply a 25M cable. Many projects are used in conference rooms which require a much longer length, so yet a new standard had to be found!!

We are at present trying to obtain cables to this new standard.

What is the difference between a single and a dual link cable?
Dual link has twice the bandwidth of a single link. At present most equipment only requires a single link cable. In the future, with increased screen resolutions dual link will become the new standard.

Can you supply cables longer than 10M?
No, the maximum length as per the DVI specification is 5M. Our superior quality cables allow up to 10M maximum.
