I have a speedtouch modem with an RJ11 port and need to connect it to a devolo mains plug which has an RJ45 port, the kit comprises of 2 plugs which use my house mains circuit as a network, will this cable allow the plug to talk to my modem?
I expect the RJ11 should be connected to a telephone socket and not your internal data network. Please check with your speedtouch modem manual for correct wiring.

I have an ADSL Speedtouch modem connected to my UK phone line through a filter. I have recently bought a Netgear router which has only a RJ45 input. Can I use this cable to connect the ADSL modem to the router?
You can not use this cable to connect the ADSL modem into the the router. If you have the version of Speedtouch modem which has a network connection then you can plug it into the RJ45 input with a network cable.

I have recently purchased a linsys wireless ADSL router but it only has an RJ45 socket. Can I use this cable to connect this router directly to the ADSL filter at my telephone point?
Yes, but check with the Linsys manual as to which RJ45 you should use.

I have a slightly old desktop PC which I keep for back up. It has few connection points, only one USB and no RJ45 ADSL. As I have recently got a laptop and now wireless connection I am wondering if I can use an RJ45 to RJ11 cable from my ADSL router, modem to the RJ11 socket on the back of the old PC in order to restore my Internet connection?
No, this cable is not suitable. We suggest our USB file transfer cable.

I am trying to connect my computer with an IP telephone. I host my own PBX server (Software on my computer) would this work if I connected it to my router to assign it an IP address which is not a voip server itself however it does have a DMZ which routes through to my VOIP server?
No, This will not work. The IP telephone should be connected using a data network to the PABX. The PABX will need to be configured to convert the voip to a "standard" telephone connection.

My broadband service includes a VOIP phone number but my wireless router only has RJ45 sockets. Can I use this cable to connect my Fax machine through the routers RJ45 socket to the VOIP service?
Yes, providing the router manual confirms that the RJ45 socket is a phone connection. You will also need to configure the VOIP on the router as required.

Can I use this cable with my BT ADSL line (RJ11) into my firewall (RJ45) then from there to my router?
Yes, providing the connections work with a 2 wire cable.

Will this cable allow me to connect my ADSL router, which only has a RJ11 (Line in) connection to my cable modem which has a RJ45 Ethernet connection out?
Yes, but check with relevant manuals to ensure correct operation.

I have a router with an RJ45 socket. Can I connect this to the RJ11 socket of the ADSL filter (UK telephone etc.)?
Yes, if the router manual specifically states that the RJ45 socket can be connected to the UK telephone system.

I am trying to connect my Xbox console to my modem for Xbox live. However the port on the xbox is for an Ethernet RJ45 connection, and the connection on my modem is for a RJ11 cable. How can I successfully get this working for xbox live?
As your RJ45 is an Ethernet connection you need to to connect it to an Ethernet network with Internet access.

You need to check that the BT RJ45 socket is a ADSL connections. Sometimes a BT RJ45 could actually be an ISDN line, Network connection etc.

Can I use this cable to patch the ADSL connection into the CAT5 data cable system and then another at the other end to take the ADSL to my ADSL router which is remote to the BT wall box?
Yes, this cable will connect the ADSL signal correctly. In our office, our ADSL is connected via our network but we decided to site the ADSL filter next to our ADSL modem.

Can I use this to connect from my ADSL (RJ11) straight into my wireless ADSL modem, router, which has only a RJ45 input?
