I have taken a BT cordless phone with built-in answering machine to Malaysia and India. Unfortunately it does not ring on incoming calls. Would this cable be suitable?
No, you should use AA1566. This has the necessary ring and wiring for use abroad.

Can I use this with a digital cordless DECT phone? I bought a modem cable but it failed to work.
If your "modem" cable allowed you to make outgoing calls but the phone failed to ring for incoming calls then this cable should be suitable.

When a phone is able to make an outgoing call but fails to ring for an incoming call you have a "2 wire" connector, cable and require a "4 wire" connector, cable. The extra 2 wires supply the ring signal for the phone.

Do these come in both analogue and digital versions?
These cable are suitable for both analogue and digital telephone systems.
