AA1621 Frequently Asked Questions
I'd like to use my standard UK domestic telephone and ADSL modem equipment
in New Zealand. What adapters do you recommend? I had heard that although they
tend to use RJ11 connectors in New Zealand.
In New Zealand they use our UK type and the American RJ11 type. You will need
to check as to which version will be available.
Telephone - If they are supplying the RJ11 version then you will require
our AA1566
adapters. Otherwise your telephone should plug directly into the UK type telephone
socket.
ADSL - You will need to contact your ISP as to the suitability of you
equipment in New Zealand. Your ISP will be able to confirm which ADSL standard
they require (i.e. ANSI T1.413, ITU G992.2 etc.) and the necessary configuration.
You should also confirm which ADSL filter they require.
I need a standard BT socket to RJ11?
We suggest you use our UK telephone socket to RJ11 plug, AA1566,
adapter
We have just bought a Dell 962 all in one printer, scanner, fax but are
having problems getting it to work with the phone we use in the same BT socket.
Dell say we should connect the fax direct to the BT socket, and the phone to the
back of the fax machine.
I bought a new RJ11 cable to do this but do not get the dial tone with the
phone, but the fax works fine.
I also tried connecting the fax using an old cable which had a splitter
at the BT socket end allowing me to plug the phone into the splitter with a BT
plug. Also no good.
Assuming that the phone was previously connected on its own we can only suggest
that you have reached the REN limit (i.e. you have too many telephones connected
to the line.
