AA1660 Frequently Asked Questions

I am thinking of using my old record player via my Bose wave system, what do I need?

  1. Ensure that the Bose wave has the auxilary input jacklug connection.
  2. Connect the record deck to the input of our pre-amp AA1660. Usually you require phono to phono cables.
  3. Conect the pre-amp output to the input of the Bose Wave. You will require a phono to jack plug cable.

Will this pre-amp match the output from my laptop headphone socket to the line inputs of my hi-fi amp?
No, this pre-amp is for record decks only to sound cards.

In an ideal world you would match the laptop output to your amplifier. If you have a "line out" on your laptop then this can be connected with a suitable 3.5mm jack plug to phono cable..

Most people just connect the headphone output directly to their amplifier without any problems with 3.5mm jack plug to twin phono cables.

This amplifier is used when you want to blow your records to CD, dvd, mp3 etc.
It will:

  • Boost the very weak record signal so that it is sufficient for digitisation
  • Compensate for the RIAA biasing. When a record is manufactured the bass is boosted, very much like Dolby. And this compensates for this.
