My friend wishes to connect a sky box plus a vcr to her TV. However, it only has one SCART socket. How can we run both items using thier SCART leads and have thier pictures come through one on AV1 and the other on AV2?

Does the video output from SCART provide a video input in colour to the S-video, not the black and white only input of many similar products?
Yes, the s-video connector does provide colour. A black and white picture is due to your equipment and not the adapter. A black and white picture can occurs because the receiving device cannot lock onto the colour information correctly.
