Does it matter if the 2, or 4 wire ADSL is wired straight pin to pin, 3-3,
4-4 or crossed-over, 3-4, 4-3?
No, it should work either way.
In practise, however we have found that some devices prefer the wiring to be swapped.
Do you supply anything larger than 30m RJ11 cable?
No, 30M is the maximum length which we stock.
I should plug a normal telephone extension into my BT socket on the wall
and then plug the ADSL filter into the end of the extension near to the modem,
computer. By doing this I will receive faster speed on the Internet broadband.
Or do I plug the ADSL into the BT wall socket and then run a RJ11 cable from this
to the modem?
In theory you can connect the microfilter into the telephone extension near your
PC. But this does not always seem to work. So we suggest the following:
Quick Method: Plug the microfilter into the extension and then the PC
and see if it works.
Simple method: Walk around your house and count how phones are plugged
into a phone socket, on the same line and order the same number of our AA2143
filter. Simply unplug each phone, plug them into the filter and reconnect
to the phone line.
Cheaper method: Buy a single micro-filter and plug this into your master
socket and run all the phone extensions off the phone side of the micro-filter.
Finally, run an extension from the ADSL side of the splitter to where you want
to use your ADSL modem.
There are two way for connecting the broadband modem.
- Socket on the wall, telephone extension socket, ADSL microfilter, RJ11
cable, broadband modem.
- Socket on the wall, ADSL microfilter, RJ11 cable, broadband modem.
Can you tell me, will these make any difference?
Both methods should work but we believe that it always better to have the ADSL
microfilter as close to the modem as possible.
With a 15m ADSL cable will I still get the same performance?
Yes, you get the same high performance with all our ADSL cables.
I am using my PC upstairs via a telephone extension socket of approx. 25
M, to connect the microfilter and the ADSL cable to this, would my broadband connection
still be OK?
Yes, It should would be OK
What is the difference between the normal ADSL 2 and 4 core?
A two core cable will always work on with an ADSL modem through a microfilter.
BUT
We had a lot of customers asking for 4 core ADSL cables because that is what was
supplied with their modem. So we decided to supply four core as that is what they
want. No matter how many times we told them otherwise.
The only time you require four core is to ring a telephone for incoming calls.
The extra wire provides the ring signal, which is not required with ADSL as the
modem is "always on"
I need 25 meters ADSL, RJ11 cable. Is this available?
No, we suggest you move the ADSL micorfilter closer to the modem by extending
the telephone cable.
