AA1860 Frequently Asked Questions
Wish to connect budget mono security video camera with SCART plug output
to s-video input of computer TV, PC
card so that I can use hard drive to record security video signal. Camera designed
to plug straight into PAL TV or VCR. Will AA1860 help with this connection?
No, You require adapter AA1673
adapter which has a s-video output
and an s-video
male to male cable.
Can you guarantee this will output colour to the S-Video?
Yes, it does supply the colour signal, but it will not always work!!
Why?
There are, typically three reasons for the failure of the colour signal.
1) Your equipment is not supping the colour signal. Ensure that is is set to RGB
mode and that you are using a "fully connected" SCART
lead.
2) The signal between the two devices is encoded differently. Usually we have
found that one is using the UK standard, PAL, while the other is using the USA
standard NTSC.
3) The colour is OK on short cables but fails on longer cables. In this case customers
are using domestic equipment, typically they work on cables up to 5M but fail
for any length greater than this. This is because domestic equipment is not designed
for long cables.
