AA2127 Frequently Asked Questions

Further to the previous questions concerning the connection of two input devices (PS3, computer) to a single montior...will this cable work providing only one input device is generating a signal?
Yes, it will work. Even so over time you might still destroy the input as you will be applying power to the output even though the device is off. We suggest you use a DVI switch box.

I have an LCD TV and LCD monitor with the DVI splitter cable driven from my desktop DVI output, but it does not work. What is wrong?

  • TV or Monitor are not switched to DVI digital only signal.
  • One display is using DVI single link while the other requires DVI dual link.
  • Desktop graphics card is unable to drive two cables and two displays.
  • The monitor and TV should both be turn on.
  • The cable is faulty.

Will this splitter cable allow me to switch between my DELL PC and Xbox games console thorough the same monitor?
No, this cable is not suitable. You require a DVI switch box which we do not stock.

Would this DVI splitter cable allow me to connect two sources to a single monitor? I have a Sky HD box and a Windows Media Centre PC which I want to connect to my HD compatible LCD TV that only has a single DVI input.
This is not suitable to connect two video sources to a single input. Our only suggestion is out dvi kvm switch box, AA3087.

Does this cable allow me to use two graphic Cards to one monitor?
No, you should use a dvi monitor switch box.

I have an ati x600 se card fitted to a dell gx620. Card is capable of dual head but only one dvi outlet on the board. Will this cable let me use the card with two monitors and extend desktop across monitors?
Understand this appears to be same question as before but difference is the card is dual head capable

Yes, you can use this cable with two monitors but you will not be able to extend the desktop across two monitor. You will see the same image on both monitors.

Will the picture quality suffer as a result of the split.
No, it will be the same as before.

Could you tell me if the DVI splitter cable you sell allows you to extend the windows desktop across 2 monitors, just as it would if you used one DVI output and one VGA from the video card? Or does it merely put the same picture onto 2 monitors?
You will see the same picture on 2 monitors.

I intend running my LCD Computer Monitor and an LCD TV (both with DVI input) from my PC video card at the same time. Will this splitter solve this by splitting the DVI signal? Also will this cause any problems with the quality of the image displayed on either device?
Yes, this will allow you to see the same picture on the monitor and the LCD TV.
