AA2240 Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my Windows 2000 laptop to recognise the external mouse and not the internal mousepad?
Both should work but some laptop manufactures configure Windows 2000 slightly differently. If this is the case with your system then you will need to contact the manufacture for advice on how to configure the OS.

Check Instillation.

  1. Install the adapter with your mouse connected. Click on
    start-> settings-> control panel-> system-> hardware -> device manager -> Mice and other pointing devices
  2. There should be two entries, the internal mousepad and a new entry "PS/2 Compatible Mouse".
    Ensure that there are no little yellow circles containing an exclamation (!). These signify that the device driver has not been installed correctly.
  3. Close all the windows

Change Default

  1. Install the adapter with your mouse connected. Click on
    start-> settings-> control panel-> mouse
  2. There should be two entries. Ensure that the external mouse is configured as the default.
