Is this the same as the CISCO CAB-25AS-FDTE Adapter?
AA2992 can be used but you will need to wire it correctly.

This adapter is used with the Cisco 2500 series, including the Access Server
series (Cisco 2509 through Cisco 2512). This adapter has an RJ-45 connector on
one end and a female DB-25 connector on the other end.
