AA3081, AA3082 Frequently Asked Questions

Even though this cable is SATA I at one end can the cable still support 3Gbs data transfer.
Allow me to explain...

We have an external NAS with an eSATA connector. We have a removable SATA II hard drive which docks with an external removable caddy. The SATA II disk sits inside an enclosure which goes into the caddy and connects via a 50 pin Centronics SCSI I connector. The SCSI connector is mounted on to a PCB with a SATA I connector on the back thus the need for this cable.

So given that both disks are SATA II, eSATA will we get 3Gbs?
By connecting to a SATA I interface your maximum throughput will be limited to 1.5Gbs. In your case this would be the PCB with the SATA I interface.
