AA3537 SCART Switch box

Operating instructions

This fully automatic SCART controller provides an easy way of connecting:

  • System 1
    Connect satellite receiver, camcorder, VCR etc. to a television
  • System 2
    Connect two decoders to a satellite receiver

In addition this device has a built in video enhancing circuit to correct for any signal loss from your VCR etc. When the enhancer is switched on, the clarity of the video signal from the SCART 3 output is greatly improved.

Conventional SCART video selector boxes need to be switched manually, this box is fully automatic. All you have to do is press the play, operation button on the equipment attached to the SCART 1 or SCART 2 connectors and the signal will be routed to the TV or satellite receiver connected to the SCART 3 socket.

You can also record from a satellite, camcorder, VCR attached to SCART 2 onto a VCR attached to SCART 1. Using system 2 connections, two decoders to a satellite receiver, simply select your satellite receiver by switching it on and this box will automatically select the decoder needed to decode that channel.

System 1 Connections

Connect the TV to SCART 3 and the VCR to SCART 1, then connect one of the flowing, satellite, camcorder, VCR, to the SCART 2 socket.

Please Note:

  1. The use of SCART 1 via a phono adapter for playback is not possible, Us SCART 2 instead.
  2. With a VCR, satellite receiver, TV configuration you can watch a TV terrestrial channel while recording a satellite channel.
  3. The indicator LED will not light up when a phono to SCART adapter is used for signal input on the SCART 2 socket.
  4. SCART 1 takes priority to SCART 2 if both indicate the presence of a video signal.

Satellite and Decoder to TV

On some satellite receivers only one SCART socket is available, i.e. Amstread SRD400. This SCART switch box can extend the number of SCART sockets of these receivers in the following way.

Connect the

SCART 1 External decoder
SCART 2 Satellite receiver
SCART 3 TV

System 2 Connections

Connect the satellite receiver decoder SCART socket via a SCART lead to the SCART 3 connection

Then connect your decoders to the SCART 1 and SCART 2 sockets.

Once the connections have been made, simply select a scrambled channel on your satellite receiver. Providing the appropriate decoder is connected. The SCART switch box will then detect the scrambled picture and automatically select the decoder the decoder needed to decode the channel.

When you select a scrambled channel, one of the LED's will light indicating the active SCART socket.

Please Note:
When using a decoder which does not have a pin 8 signal facility on the SCART lead, this decoder should be fitted to the SCART 2 socket. The LED will not light up in this instance.

General Advice

Avoid placing the switch box in locations subject to vibration, extremes of temperature or humidity. Do not use chemicals to clean this apparatus, as this may result in damage to the finish. Use a clean dry cloth. Keep the instructions manual in a safe place for future reference.
